If you choose to sacrifice Khernae Demon to pay for a Demonic Essence cost, you may choose to Exile it. If you do, it is considered to have Demonic Essence 3

The Khernae are a specific subset of Demons whom were present at the Corruption and Burning of the Illythae Grove. Though it has been centuries since such a tragic event, some still remain as Lesser Demons. But with this, it allows Greater Demons to consume their essence and their pedigree for greater summonings
